Pre-Sales Engineering Manager/Sales Engineer

For over 20 years, the company is a leading provider of Operations Support Systems (OSS) software to the global communications industry. Headquartered in Canada with an office in Ireland, the company has several hundred customers ranging from large national operators (e.g. Telefonica, BT) to smaller regional ISPs, through direct sales and strategic alliances and regional resellers. The company has enjoyed year-over-year revenue growth and profitability, consistently, for the past decade. Now the company is at a transformational inflection point to transform from a software product license sales shop to a customer-centric solutions provider.

The candidate needs to be a highly driven self-starter with a passion for exceeding expectations and making challenging situations appear easy to master.

You will

  • do product demos, technical presentations, conduct software product trials, Proof of Concept and answer RFP/RFQ/RFIs and proposals
  • make use of your customer centric skills, sales acumen in learning and probing to validate client needs
  • be diligent in follow-ups and execute on deliverables
  • work directly with clients/prospects and channel support partners
  • learn to know where to escalate internally
  • be able to work independently and remotely as well as in a team environment
  • support the sales efforts in Europe, attend tradeshows, conferences and provide technical assistance in booth
  • demonstrate knowledge of competitor’s product and position us against the competition
  • address the majority of technical questions concerning customization, integration, and general feature / functionality of our products
  • Document and track activity through Salesforce.com

Technical skills – you need …

  • experience with network taps, network monitoring tools, traffic generation & analysis tools and network security tools
  • experience with TCP/IP networking with Windows and UNIX
  • to have worked with Network troubleshooting including network services like DNS, DHCP, SNMP
  • experience in Perl and/or Shell scripting
  • knowledge of Network Routing Protocols and Configurations
  • experience with Network Security tools/ IPS/IDS tools, NetQos, NetScout, Wireshark (network protocol analyzer), Spirent, Ixia.
  • strong understanding of Ethernet , fiber optics, split ratios, TCP/IP, switching and routing concepts and OSI layers 1-7 concepts and protocols
  • knowledge of network configuration and various hardware devices such as routers and switches
  • ability to work alone troubleshooting complicated network problems
  • ideally have CISSP or other networking certifications
